Test conditions and notes7
  1. 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
  2. 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
  3. 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
  4. 4. The power supply is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment. All the EMC tests are been executed by mounting the unit on a 360mm*360mm metal plate with 1mm of thickness. The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives. For guidance on how to perform these EMC tests, please refer to "EMI testing of component power supplies." (as available on http://www.meanwell.com)
  5. 5. Mounting holes M1 and M2 should be grounded for EMI purposes.

Can I use the MPD-45B for a 5V PLC or industrial control board?

It can fit 5V control electronics that need constant voltage, as long as the 5V channel (CH1) stays within its 3.2A rating and the total load, including the 24V channel (CH2, 1.2A), stays within 44.8W. The wide 90-264VAC input also suits facilities that may see different AC mains ranges.

Is the MPD-45B suitable for 5V embedded systems or single-board computer projects in equipment cabinets?

It is sized for 5V embedded loads that need up to 3.2A from a constant voltage supply. Its 127.0 × 76.0 × 28.0 mm form factor and 0.2 kg weight make it more appropriate for enclosed equipment than higher-power chassis supplies.

Can the MPD-45B power 5V automation accessories like sensors, logic modules, or small HMI electronics?

It is a practical fit for 5V automation accessories when the 5V channel stays at or below 3.2A and the combined load of both channels stays at or below 44.8W. Because it is a constant voltage model, it is intended for equipment designed around regulated 5V and 24V rails.

Is the MPD-45B better for indoor panels or outdoor use?

The published specs list an operating temperature range of -10°C to +60°C, but they do not list an IP rating. That means the environment rating should be treated as temperature information only, and any exposure concerns need to be handled at the system level.
