Test conditions and notes14
- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated current and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 2. De-rating may be need under low input voltages. Please refer to “STATIC CHARACTERISTIC” sections for details.
- 3. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12” twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uF & 47uF parallel capacitor.
- 4. Tolerance: includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- 5. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the driver may lead to increase of the set up time.
- 6. Flicker is measured at full load with the light source provided by MEAN WELL.
- 7. To fulfill requirement of the latest ErP regulation for lighting fixtures, this LED driver can only be used behind a switch without permanently connected to the mains.
- 8. The driver is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. Since EMC performance will be affected by the complete installation, the final equipment manufacturers must re-qualify EMC Directive on the complete installation again. (as available on https://www.meanwell.com//Upload/PDF/EMI_statement_en.pdf)
- 9. The ambient temperature de-rating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).
- 10. This series meets the typical life expectancy of >50,000 hours of operation when Tcase, particularly tc point (or TMP, per DLC), is about 70℃ or less.
- 11. For XLC(except -S) series: RCM is on a voluntary basis and meets relevant IEC or AS/NZS standards complying with AS/NZS 4417.1. For XLC-S series: RCM is on a voluntary basis. Non IC classification Independent LED control gear is not suitable for residential installations.

FAQ
Can I use the XLC-25-24 to power a 24V LED strip for architectural cove lighting?
Yes, the XLC-25-24 is a 24V constant voltage driver that is compatible with 24V LED cove lighting strips. At 25.2W output, it can support moderate strip lengths suitable for accent or cove applications. The flicker-free design is useful in spaces where occupants may notice light quality, such as offices or hospitality areas.
Is the XLC-25-24 compatible with 24V LED strips used in illuminated signage?
Yes, the XLC-25-24 delivers 24V constant voltage output and can power 24V LED modules or strips commonly used in channel letter and backlit signage up to 25.2W total load. The wide input range of 100–305VAC makes it compatible with global mains voltages, an advantage in international signage installations.
Can the XLC-25-24 be used inside an outdoor signage cabinet?
The XLC-25-24 has no listed IP rating, so it should be installed inside a sealed or protected enclosure rather than directly exposed to weather. If the signage cabinet provides IP54 or better protection and adequate thermal management, the driver can operate within its -25°C to +85°C case temperature range. For fully weatherproof driver installations, choose a model with an IP65 or higher rating.
How long a 24V LED strip can the XLC-25-24 power?
The XLC-25-24 provides up to 25.2W at 24V and 1.05A. To find the maximum strip length, divide 25.2W by your strip's watts per meter rating — for a common 14.4 W/m strip that is approximately 1.75 m (25.2 ÷ 14.4 ≈ 1.75 m), and for a 9.6 W/m strip about 2.6 m. Always verify your strip's rated power per meter and size for no more than 80% of rated driver output for continuous use.
Does the XLC-25-24 include power factor correction?
Yes, the XLC-25-24 includes built-in Power Factor Correction (PFC) as part of its Class II design. PFC improves the efficiency of power drawn from the mains supply and is often required in commercial lighting installations to meet energy standards. Combined with the flicker-free output, it is well suited to commercial LED lighting applications.
What is the difference between the XLC-25-24 and XLC-25-24-S?
The XLC-25-24 is a built-in type driver with a 107 x 40 x 32 mm case. The XLC-25-24-S is an independent type with a strain-relief cable exit and a larger 147 x 40 x 32 mm case. Both share identical electrical specifications: 25.2W output, 24V, and 1.05A. The -S version is more suitable for installations where the output cable is subject to physical tension or vibration.
