Overview
PWM-120-36DA is the 36V output model of this series: rated current 3.4A, rated power 122.4W, typical efficiency 90%.
PWM-120 series is a 120W AC/DC LED driver featuring the constant voltage mode with PWM style output, which is able to maintain the color temperature and the brightness homogeneity when driving all kinds of LED strips. PWM-120 operates from 90~305VAC and offers models with different rated voltage ranging between 12V and 48V. Thanks to the high efficiency up to 90.5%, with the fanless design, the entire series is able to operate for -40℃ ~ +90℃ case temperature under free air convection. The entire series is rated with IP67 ingress protection level and is suitable to work for dry, damp or wet locations. PWM-120 is equipped with dimming function that varies the duty cycle of the output, providing great flexibility for LED strips applications.

Test conditions and notes9
- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated current and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 2. De-rating may be needed under low input voltages. Please refer to “STATIC CHARACTERISTIC” sections for details.
- 3. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the driver may lead to increase of the set up time.
- 4. The driver is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. Since EMC performance will be affected by the complete installation, the final equipment manufacturers must re-qualify EMC Directive on the complete installation again. (as available on https://www.meanwell.com//Upload/PDF/EMI_statement_en.pdf)
- 5. This series meets the typical life expectancy of >50,000 hours of operation when Tcase, particularly tc point (or TMP, per DLC), is about 75℃or less.
- 6. Please refer to the warranty statement on MEAN WELL's website at http://www.meanwell.com
- 7. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).
- 8. For any application note and IP water proof function installation caution, please refer our user manual before using. https://www.meanwell.com/Upload/PDF/LED_EN.pdf
- 9. Based on IEC 62386-101/102 DALI power on timing and interruption regulations, the set up time needs to test with a DALI controller which can support for DALI power on function, otherwise the set up time will be higher than 0.5 second for DA type.

FAQ
Can I use the PWM-120-36DA with a DALI lighting control system?
Yes. The PWM-120-36DA is equipped with a DALI interface, allowing it to be addressed and controlled by any DALI-compatible building management or lighting control system. This makes it suitable for commercial installations where centralised dimming control is required.
Is the PWM-120-36DA rated for outdoor or wet-area installations?
Yes. The IP67 waterproof rating means the driver is protected against dust ingress and temporary submersion, making it suitable for outdoor signage, facade lighting, and covered wet areas. Its operating range spans -40°C to +90°C.
How much 36V LED strip can the PWM-120-36DA support?
With a maximum output of 122.4W at 36V and 3.4A, the PWM-120-36DA can power a strip run calculated by dividing 122.4W by the strip's watt-per-meter rating — for instance, a 12 W/m strip allows up to 10.2 m. Check your specific strip's rated power per meter.
Can I use the PWM-120-36DA for DALI-controlled architectural cove lighting?
Yes. The DALI interface lets this 122.4W, 36V driver integrate directly into DALI-based control systems used in commercial cove and accent lighting. The PWM-style output delivers smooth, flicker-free dimming on 36V LED strips installed in cove or recessed channels.
Is the PWM-120-36DA appropriate for retail display lighting with DALI scene control?
Yes. Retail environments often use DALI for zone-by-zone scene control, and the PWM-120-36DA's DALI interface supports individual device addressing within a DALI loop. At 122.4W and 36V it can handle medium-sized display lighting loads.
Does the PWM-120-36DA require a separate DALI power supply?
The PWM-120-36DA receives its DALI control signal from the DALI bus in your installation; the DALI bus itself requires a separate small DALI power supply (typically provided by the DALI controller or a dedicated bus supply). The driver's load output is the 36V DC supply to your LEDs.
How does the PWM-120-36DA differ from the PWM-120-36 in the same series?
Both share the same 36V, 3.4A output and IP67 rating. The key difference is the dimming interface: PWM-120-36 uses built-in 3-in-1 dimming (PWM, 0–10V, resistance), while PWM-120-36DA uses a DALI interface for integration into DALI addressable lighting systems.
