HLG-80H series is a 80W AC/DC LED driver featuring the dual mode constant voltage and constant current output. HLG-80H operates from 90～305VAC and offers models with different rated voltage ranging between 12V and 54V. Thanks to the high efficiency up to 91%, with the fanless design, the entire series is able to operate for -40℃ ~ +80℃ case temperature under free air convection. The design of metal housing and IP67 ingress protection level allows this series to fit both indoor and outdoor applications.

Test conditions and notes13

1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated current and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.

Can I use the HLG-80H-12 to power 12V LED strip lighting outdoors?

Yes. The HLG-80H-12 outputs 12V at up to 5A (60W) and carries an IP67 rating, making it suitable for outdoor 12V LED strip runs exposed to rain or moisture. Its metal housing and -40°C to +80°C case temperature (Tcase) range suit harsh weather conditions.

Is the HLG-80H-12 a good choice for powering 12V LED channel-letter signage?

Yes. With 60W of output at 12V, the HLG-80H-12 can drive 12V LED sign modules used in channel letters or cabinet signs. Its IP67 rating and universal 90-305VAC input make it well-suited for outdoor signage installations with varying mains voltages.

Can I power a 12V LED under-cabinet or cove lighting system with the HLG-80H-12?

How many meters of 12V LED strip can the HLG-80H-12 power?

Divide 60W by your strip's rated power per meter. For example, a 12V strip drawing 10W/m would allow up to 6 meters (60W / 10W per meter = 6m). A higher-density strip at 14.4W/m would allow about 4.1 meters. Always check your strip's rated power per meter and keep total load at or below 60W.

Can the HLG-80H-12 be mounted in an outdoor junction box exposed to rain?

Yes. It is IP67 rated, and the sheet describes the series as fit for both indoor and outdoor applications, so mounting in an outdoor junction box exposed to rain is within its intended use. Follow the waterproof installation cautions in MEAN WELL's user manual.

What are the differences between the HLG-80H-12, 12A, 12AB, and 12B variants?

All four share the same 60W / 12V / 5A core specs with constant-current operation. The base HLG-80H-12 has no output adjustment or dimming and is IP67. The -12A adds potentiometers for output voltage and current adjustment (IP65). The -12AB adds output current adjustment and 3-in-1 dimming (IP65). The -12B adds the dimming input only and retains IP67.
