Test conditions and notes6
- 1. Modification for charger specification may be required for different battery specification. Please contact battery vendor and MEAN WELL for details.
- 2. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
- 3. This is MEAN WELL's suggested range. Please consult your battery manufacturer for their suggestions about maximum charging current limitation.
- 4. Derating may be needed under low input voltages. Please check the derating curve for more details.
- 5. The charger is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment. All the EMC tests are been executed by mounting the unit on a 600mm*900mm metal plate with 1mm of thickness. The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives. For guidance on how to perform these EMC tests, please refer to “EMI testing of component power supplies.” (as available on https://www.meanwell.com//Upload/PDF/EMI_statement_en.pdf)
- 6. The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).

FAQ
What types of batteries is the Mean Well DBU-3200-48 designed to charge?
The DBU-3200-48 is designed for lead-acid batteries including gel, flooded, and AGM types, as well as Li-ion batteries using lithium iron and lithium manganese chemistries. That makes it suitable for industrial charging applications where battery chemistry may vary across equipment fleets.
What are the main output specifications of the DBU-3200-48?
This model is a 3200W programmable charger with a 48V output and a rated current of 55A. It is intended for higher-power battery charging applications where a 48V system and substantial charging capacity are required.
Can the DBU-3200-48 be used in demanding industrial environments?
Yes. The unit is rated for operation from -30°C to +70°C (with output derating per the derating curve) and is cooled by a built-in fan. It also includes over-voltage, over-temperature and battery-low protection, and signals over-temperature or fan failure through its T-alarm output.
Does this charger support programmable charging control?
Yes. The DBU-3200-48 includes default 3-stage charging curves and also supports a programmable charging curve, with programmable output voltage and current. This is useful for buyers who need to match the charger to specific battery charging requirements rather than relying on one fixed profile.
What communication interface does the DBU-3200-48 provide for system integration?
The charger supports PMBus Rev. 1.1 communication (up to 100KHz) for information reading, status monitoring and output trimming, and the sheet also lists a CANBus model. That makes it a better fit for monitored or managed charging systems than a basic standalone charger with no communication support.
Can the DBU-3200-48 be used in higher-power redundant charging systems?
This model has built-in active current sharing, and up to 2 units can be connected in parallel for higher output power, with total output current limited to 90% of the combined rating (99A for two units). It also has a built-in ORing FET on the output.
