ELG-240 series is a 240W AC/DC LED driver featuring the dual mode constant voltage and constant current output. ELG-240 operates from 100～305VAC and offers models with different rated voltage ranging between 24V and 54V. Thanks to the high efficiency up to 93%, with the fanless design, the entire series is able to operate for -40℃ ~ +90℃ case temperature under free air convection. The design of metal housing and IP67/IP65 ingress protection level allows this series to fit both indoor and outdoor applications. ELG-240 is equipped with various function options, such as dimming methodologies, so as to provide the optimal design flexibility for LED lighting system

1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated current and 25℃ of ambient temperature.
2. Please refer to "DRIVING METHODS OF LED MODULE".
3. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.
4. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
5. De-rating may be needed under low input voltages. Please refer to “STATIC CHARACTERISTIC” sections for details.
6. Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the driver may lead to increase of the set up time.

Can I use the ELG-240-42B to power a large 42V LED strip installation outdoors?

Yes. The ELG-240-42B delivers 239.82W at 42V and the series is rated IP65 or IP67, making it suitable for outdoor and exposed installations. It is specified for a case temperature of -40°C to +90°C (max. ambient 60°C at rated current in constant-current mode), so it handles both cold and hot outdoor environments.

Is the ELG-240-42B appropriate for illuminated outdoor signage?

Yes. The IP65/IP67 rating protects against water ingress from rain and washdown in sign enclosures. With 239.82W available at 42V, it can drive the LED modules used in medium-to-large sign cabinets.

How much 42V LED strip can the ELG-240-42B drive?

The driver provides a maximum of 239.82W on 200–305VAC input (179.76W on 100–180VAC). If your 42V LED strip is rated at, say, 14W per meter, that supports approximately 17 meters (239.82 ÷ 14 ≈ 17.1 m). Always check your strip's rated power per meter; if you want about 20% headroom, plan for roughly 13–14 meters at that density.

What dimming method does the ELG-240-42B support?

The 'B' suffix on the ELG-240-42B indicates built-in 3-in-1 dimming: 0–10VDC, 10V PWM signal (100Hz–3KHz) and resistance dimming are all supported via the DIM+ (purple) and DIM- (pink) leads. This allows control from 0–10V dimmers and building automation systems; the minimum dimming level is about 8%.

Can the ELG-240-42B be installed in a wet or damp location such as a covered outdoor patio?

Yes. The IP65/IP67 rating means the unit is dust-tight and water-resistant, which covers damp or rain-exposed locations such as a covered patio. The case temperature range extends down to -40°C, so cold-climate outdoor mounting is also acceptable.
